I have huge respect and admiration for everyone who has served our country in our armed forces and I love war movies, but I have always wondered what else there is to service that might not be movie material. This great read pulls back the curtains, just enough, to answer that question. The organization, writing style, first/second-hand accounts, and quotes add wonderful authenticity. From funny to tragic, the stories, wow moments, and touching insights bring military service into a personal focus. The short-story format makes it easy to pick up almost anytime. The challenge is putting it down!

I highly recommend this book. It really gives a sense of the commitment, integrity, brotherhood and humor associated with those that serve our country. Bill and Jon are gifted storytellers and this is a highly readable book, with compelling, humorous, poignant and inspiring stories.

A riveting, and informative history of a great American military family! . Bill Morgan is a great storyteller and uses facts and humor to keep it interesting while relating his experiences. Jon Manus' contributions provide a contrasting perspective while maintaining the give and take between these two friends.

Terrific read and fascinating stories. Bill, thank you for taking the time to do this for those who have served and for those of us who haven't but are so appreciative.

I just finished Haze Gray and Underway and I can say without a doubt that I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves our military (me), anyone who is in the military or anyone who is considering a career in the military. Colonel Morgan and Major Manis are both very gifted story tellers and the stories told within the covers of this book not only portray the various occurrences of these two fine Marine Officers, but also activities of their loved ones at homes. Great book!
